AMENITIES

The Highway Alpine Lodge is only a short walk or ski to the lifts of Perisher Ski Resort. The Lodge is available for member booking all year round, with significantly cheaper tariffs during summer/autumn periods. Bring your family and friends to Highway for a rejuvenating getaway.

There are nine en-suited rooms that accommodate up to 17 people.

  • Bedroom 3 is a single, it has one single bed with ensuite
  • The other eight bedrooms are doubles, all with ensuites. Each of these rooms has 2 single beds, which can be joined as one double
  • Kitchen: 2 double sinks, 2 electric cook tops/ovens, 1 large fridge, 2 microwaves
  • Lounge Room: 4 lounges, 2 coffee tables, Electric Fireplace
  • Dining: 3 dining tables
  • Balcony: accessible via the lounge area – with gas BBQ
  • We have limited lockers available for rent at $30 per year. Enquire as to availablity. NB: only one locker per membership.
  • Ski Gear Storage Room: lower level

Lodge information

PLEASE READ the following information, it will answer most of your questions in regard to preparations for your stay, what to bring, how to get to the lodge, and lodge procedures.

Highway Alpine is a self-catered lodge

You must bring your own food and bedding with you.

In winter there is a supermarket, medical centre and pharmacy at the Ski Tube Terminal at Perisher. Off-season you will need to drive to Jindabyne for supplies. 

Getting there in Winter

In winter, the only way to get to Perisher for an overnight stay is to use the Ski-Tube.

  • From Jindabyne, drive to the Bullocks Flat Terminal on the Alpine Way
  • Park your car and catch the Ski Tube* (there are large trolleys for your gear)
  • From the Perisher Terminal, book a snowcat to take you the rest of your way to Highway Alpine. Enquiries can be made through 4Site Oversnow 02 6412 2244 or perisheradmin@4siteaustralia.com for winter enquiries.

In winter overnight parking is prohibited in Perisher Valley. Parking is available for day skiers but you cannot drive past the Ski Tube Terminal to access the lodge.

*Ski Tube operates every 20 minutes 24hrs a day from June long weekend to October long weekend. Ski Tube does not cater for people with access needs. Click on the link to view the Ski Tube Timetable.

Getting there in Summer

In summer you can drive right up to the lodge.

Bedding and Linen

This is a self-catered lodge so you will need to bring your own fitted sheet, top sheets, and pillowcases.  Beds are single but can be moved together – you will need a king size fitted sheet to cover both beds.

You will also need to bring your own towels and bathmats.

Quilts, quilt covers, and pillows are provided.

 Food and kitchen rules

  • Bring all your own food (including frozen).
  • Electric stoves, ovens, toasters, electric frypan, kettles, and microwaves are available for use.
  • All kitchen equipment is provided: pots, pans, plates, cutlery, glassware, etc.
  • There is an outdoor gas BBQ also available for cooking.
  • Each room is allocated a single shelf in the catering sized refrigerator, your space is identified by your room number.
  • There is a large shared freezer downstairs.
  • Pantry space is available for each lodger. Discuss with the lodge captain where is best to store your food.
  • Salt, pepper, tea, and other condiments are provided.
  • All cleaning products are provided.
  • You will be expected to clean up after yourself and dispose of rubbish. Your Lodge Captain will advise.

    Lodge Operation Procedures

    • A lodge Captain will be allocated to the lodge for each week-long stay.
    • The responsibilities are outlined in the Lodge Captain document.
    • Entry to the lodge is keyless. The keycode will be sent to the member that made the booking, they will share with their group. 
    • Each time you stay at the lodge there is a Guest Register that must be signed by each adult guest. This is a requirement of National Parks and is for their information only.
    • On the day of leaving, you must clean your own room, ready for the next guest.
    • Note: guests at the lodge are expected to help in the operations during their stay. Tasks will be allocated by the lodge captain e.g. emptying rubbish, cleaning rooms and bathrooms. Refer to the Lodge Captain document for a full list of tasks.
    • The member is responsible for the conduct of their party. The member and guest responsibilities can be found on the Book Now page.

    PURPOSE

    Since establishment, the main purpose of the Highway Alpine Club Co-operative has always been to encourage, develop and promote snow sports, skiing, ski touring and other athletic sports in which members, guests, or other persons nominated by a member, may participate. The Club has constructed and continues to provide and maintain lodge accommodation for use in connection with these activities. The Club also provides facilities, equipment and services to assist, promote, and encourage these activities.
